Escondido Jaycees 65th Annual Christmas Parade rolled Saturday, Dec. 12 (Video)

Here they come. Walking down the street...

It’s all about having “A Superhero Christmas” Saturday morning in the heart of Escondido.

It’s all about having “A Superhero Christmas” Saturday morning in the heart of Escondido. Kicking off at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Escondido High School, the Escondido Jaycees 65th Annual Christmas Parade was expected to bring joy as well as tens of thousands of people downtown. This is the longest running community event in Escondido history.

The parade winds its way 1.3 miles southwards to Broadway and Grape Day Park, and its inevitable conclusion. One of the best places to view the parade is at Lincoln School in the 1000 block of Broadway, according to the Jaycees.

An awards ceremony takes place about 20 minutes following the parade’s conclusion. Following that event, the action moves to Maple Street Plaza, just off Grand Avenue across the street from City Hall. Festivities include Santa and Teddy Bears for kids crafts, Christmas-themes food and performances by the Children’s Youth Orchestra Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Orchestra.
