Police seek stabbing suspect from Sunday brawl near Bear Valley Middle School

Bear Valley Middle School in quieter times.

Another whodunnit has caused Escondido Police to reach out to the public for help identifying a stabbing suspect from large fight just after midnight Sunday, Dec. 20. The brawl took place just outside Bear Valley Middle School near the intersection of Bear Valley Parkway and Canyon Drive.

The fight was one for the ages, or at least young adults, in the 2800 block of Bear Valley Parkway as at least two dozen people participated, according to Escondido Police Lt. Greg Kogler. Multiple police units responded based on 911 calls saying many participants in this Battle Royale were armed with a variety of weapons.

A 20-year-old man was stabbed at least once, Kogler said. The victim suffered other injuries and was transported to Palomar Medical Center. These injuries were considered life-threatening, Kogler said.

“Dozens of people were seen leaving the area of the crime when police arrived,” Kogler said. “Police spoke with several witnesses, but believe a number of other individuals witnessed the crime and may have helpful information.”
