Issa participates in D.C. eugenics event

KFMB promotion of Issa's interview at eugenics-based anti-immigrant conference held June 28 at Washington D.C.

eugenic noun, ( used with a singular verb

Study of or belief in the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population, especially by such means as discouraging reproduction by persons having   genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits (negative eugenics)
or encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits.

So much for being a so-called Republican “moderate.”

Embattled Congressman Darryl Issa (R-49th District) on June 28 participated in the eugenics founded and funded Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) annual “Hold Their Feet to the Fire” event at Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, D.C..

Also prominently featured were some of the the most anti-immigrant members in Congress such as Representatives Lou BarlettaLouie Gohmert, and Steve King.

The event included 60 right-wing radio hosts, including Bret Winterble, who hosts a talk show on AM 760 KFMB. Winterble interviewed Issa at the conference at 3:20 p.m. during the opening session Wednesday, June 28.

Winterble’s interview subject immediately preceding Issa? That would be Robert Spencer, identified as director of the infamous Muslim-bashing Jihad Watch website by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

FAIR is widely considered to be a hate group by civil rights organizations such as the Southern Poverty Law Center. Its ties to white nationalism and eugenics have been extensively documented by the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.

FAIR ties include connections with the extremist views of its founder and funder John Tanton, additional key donors like the Colcom Foundation — which has also demonstrated a keen interest in race science — and the Pioneer Fund, a white-supremacist outfit “devoted to racial purity through eugenics.

Here is part of what Issa said on the Winterble show:

“I think the voters need to understand the most important change occurred on January 20th because beginning on January 20th when Secretary Kelly former General John Kelly, when he took over, what he did is that he started enforcing the law… And that’s why when people hear that criminal aliens are being picked up at their sentencing (inaudible) sanctuary cities and then they forget that the enforcement that going on, that what this administration doing is grabbing and deporting criminal aliens in order to make our communities safer…” – Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA 49th District), June 28, 2017, Brett Winterble, AM 760 KFMB

Back to the conference and it’s sponsors; Tanton, who is an enthusiastic supporter of population control, once wrote: “I have come to the point of view that for European-American society and culture to persist, it requires an European-American majority and a clear one at that.”

Tanton, Stein and FAIR have a shared goal of removing from the U.S., and preventing the future entry of, all individuals who do not meet their preferred racial, cultural, religious, and ideological profile, according to

In order to do this FAIR advocates for mass roundups of the undocumented, dismantling birthright citizenship, rescinding DACA, banning immigration from Muslim-majority countries, restricting refugee entry, and dramatically reducing the volume of legal entries into the U.S

Since its founding, FAIR has pushed for measures that go beyond reducing immigration: many FAIR officials have advocated for extreme population control measures and have even gone as far as pushing for forced sterilization by designing, promoting and distributing “off-label permanent birth control” for females . Tanton, along with FAIR board members Sally Epstein and Donald Collins contributed funds to the now-defunct Institute for Development Training (IDF), which developed the “Quinacrine sterilization method.”

“Deceased FAIR board member, Garrett Hardin, praised China’s one-child policy, saying that it did not go far enough, and lamented that the developing world is populated with “the next generation of breeders.” Hardin said in response to a famine in Ethiopia that “[s]ending food to Ethiopia does more harm than good” because it would “only encourage population growth.” According to Hardin, however, the U.S. had to turn to other options to stop its own population growth. “Because widespread disease and famine no longer exist, we have to find another means to stop population increases,” he said in 1992. “The quickest, easiest and most effective form of population control in the U.S., that I support wholeheartedly, is to end immigration.”

Dan Stein, FAIR’s Executive Director, Said Immigrants to America Are Not “Church-Loving” or “God-Fearing” and that Central Americans “Hate America”: “Immigrants don’t come all church-loving, freedom-loving, God-fearing,” he said in 1997. “Many of them hate America, hate everything that the United States stands for. Talk to some of these Central Americans.”
